Dear family of a patient with diabetes,
As many of you know, we are on the cusp of the cure in Type 1 Diabetes. So many enormous breakthroughs in research happen often. Being ‘cured’ through an islet cell transplantation has been the biggest gift of life, but having my son Charlie, 8, not cured of his Type 1 diabetes has been one of the biggest disappointments of my life. My pledge to him, upon his diagnosis, was to keep him as healthy as possible, so that when the cure was available, he could be at the front of the line. I keep this pledge, today!
I became interested in Glucotize from talking to clinicians at UCSF. Most impressive to me has been my experience with the antioxidant. I studied and discussed its safety profile with several researchers, who have studied the compound, then spoke with my endocrinologist about possible side effects or contraindications---and there are none. I felt completely confident in adding this powerful oxidative stress antagonist to my repertoire. In fact, I felt comfortable with its safety and potential, I am dosing it to my Charlie. Although my new islets are still working, I had needed to slowly increase my exogenous insulin, (from 5 units to 11 units a/day) over time, due to insulin resistance. Many of us in the Phase 1 Edmonton Islet Cell Transplant trials have this similar experience. Within two weeks of taking 1200mg/day of Glucotize, my blood sugars have tightened in range and my Lantus needs dropped to 8 units per/day!
I hope this helps you or you family’s diabetic. It sure has helped me.
Best wishes for health to you all!
- Anne
